biography
He is regarded as one of the most talented directors of photography in the field of visual arts. Carvalho has made more than 70 films, (including short and feature films), and he has worked with renown filmmakers. He has consistently worked with the film director Walter Salles, with whom he made the films Foreign Land and Central Station. The latter received an Academy Award nomination for best foreign film in 1999. He has won more than 20 awards for Best Director of Photography at film festivals abroad. Janela de alma is Walter Carvalho's first film as a co-director.
