biography

Son of noted writer Juan Rulfo from whom he inherited his interest in rural Mexican life, graduated from the Centro de Capacitacion Cinematografica, and debuted with the short El Abuelo Cheno y otras historias (1995). His feature Del olvido al no me acuerdo (1999) earned him four Ariel awards from the Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas; En el hoyo (2006) was selected Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival 2006 and has won numerous other international awards.
