biography
He is a noted international film director and screenplay writer. His fiction and documentary films convey a deep poetic meaning to history and social transformation. Between 1966 and 1968 he worked on the trilogy entitled La hora de los fornos, shown in over 70 countries. Returning to Argentina from exile in Paris in 1984 he made the award-winning Tangos, el exilio de Gardel, Sur, El viaje. Since 2002 he has made only documentaries. He received the 2004 Golden Bear award for career.
